Cone 06 oxidation (first image): Speckled Jaded is a heavily pigmented, viscous Stroke & Coat® glaze with yellow, orange and blue specks that can be used for brush strokes or opaque coverage. One coat will create a translucent finish with subsequent coats adding opacity. We suggest two to three coats for full opacity and all over coverage. Will fire to a gloss finish without clear glaze.

Cone 6 oxidation (second image): Opaque. Color lightens. Specks blur.

  • Mayco Stroke & Coat glazes are intermixable, allowing you to create custom shades. Stroke & Coat® glazes have been formulated to mature at cone 06/05. Most Stroke & Coat® glazes will maintain their color at higher temperatures up to cone 6, especially reds, oranges, yellows, greens, and blues. We recommend testing on your clay and in your kiln prior to use.

Stroke & Coat® glazes will fire to a gloss finish without clear glaze. If not applied in consistent overall coverage, a clear glaze (SW001/SD001 Stoneware Clear or SW004/SD004 ZincFree Clear) can be added. Adding clear to cone 5/6 and higher firings can affect the color outcome and will cause designs to move and blur. Unlike its low fire performance, Stroke & Coat® may move and not maintain crisp edges. Fire to shelf cone 5-10.

All Stroke & Coat colors are non-toxic and dinnerware safe.

One coat gives transparent coverage, two gives semi-opaque coverage, and three coats gives solid coverage. You do not need a clear glaze over Stroke & Coat if you use at least 3 coats. Let dry between coats.
